Mori-Gyo Award Honors Forest Initiatives

The Forestry Agency defines as Mori-Gyo initiatives that leverage the socioeconomic and environmental value of forests, including forest-space use such as forest bathing and trail riding, providing venues for forestry experiences and corporate training, and utilizing J-Credits and unused resources.

The Mori-Gyo Award was established to recognize and promote individuals, companies, local governments, NPOs, and others engaged in Mori-Gyo, deepen public understanding, and lead to further expansion of these initiatives.

Mori-Gyo initiatives are expected to create and expand related populations, improve well-being, and diversify income sources in forest management.

Eligible initiatives must align with the Mori-Gyo concept, and individuals, companies, local governments, NPOs, and others may apply. For details on the application content and eligibility requirements, refer to the application flyer and the Mori-Gyo Award implementation guidelines.

A judging committee of external experts will evaluate applications based on the judging criteria. The Grand Prize will be the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award, and the Runner-Up Prize will be the Commissioner of the Forestry Agency Award.

All applicants will be registered and announced as Green Partners for contributing to rural mountain-village development and appropriate forest management through Mori-Gyo, and may use the Green Partner Mark to promote their initiatives. Information in application forms and other materials may be reused with permission, and applications, awards, or registration may be revoked in cases including false applications or violations of the implementation guidelines, laws and regulations, or public order and morality.
