IPA and AISI Release AI Security Learning Materials

Since 2025, IPA and AISI have examined AI security with experts and industry associations to promote the safe and secure use of AI. This release expands the results of those activities to users and practitioners.

While the practical application of advanced AI technologies, including generative AI, is advancing rapidly, issues such as AI misuse and attacks targeting vulnerabilities are becoming apparent. In “Information Security 10 Major Threats 2026,” released by IPA in January 2026, cyber risks surrounding AI use ranked third among organizational threats.

Both AI users and developers now need stronger security measures, as well as broader dissemination and awareness efforts. The two materials provide AI security information for their respective audiences.

General users can use learning materials that organize the minimum security measures they should implement when using AI. They are provided as presentation slides that can be used directly for internal training and similar purposes.

AI system developers and security professionals can access information summarizing the latest trends and cases related to AI security. Content previously distributed irregularly to a limited audience has been made available to more professionals.

As few people are yet well versed in both AI and security, the two materials are expected to contribute to the dissemination and awareness of AI security.

“Security Tips for AI Users” targets general users who want to understand the basics of AI and security. It clearly organizes the minimum security measures to implement when using AI and is provided as presentation slides that can be used directly for internal training and similar purposes.

The tips are scheduled to be updated as needed in line with expanding AI use cases and emerging trends.

“AI Security Brief” targets AI system developers and security professionals and introduces the latest trends and cases in AI security. Content previously distributed irregularly to experts and industry associations has been made available to more AI and security professionals.

In addition to the latest issue, 3 previously created issues of the brief have been released. New issues are scheduled to be published several times a year, and both materials will continue to be disseminated.

The releasing organizations are the Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA) and the AI Safety Institute (AISI). The materials can be downloaded and used as needed, with details provided on the IPA web page.
