The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will open applications for the FY2026 Strategic International Collaborative Research Promotion Program (joint research with Germany), covering innovative agricultural technologies including organic agriculture and AI, based on the cooperation memorandum “Farming Future Together.” Applications will be accepted from September 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. through October 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. An online application briefing will be held on October 1, and registration will be accepted through September 29 at noon.

Overview
Based on the cooperation memorandum “Farming Future Together,” the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is inviting research proposals to conduct international joint research by research institutions in Japan and Germany.
The call invites projects that contribute to building resilient and sustainable agricultural and food systems.

Research undertaken by research institutions in Japan will be commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, while research undertaken by research institutions in Germany will be supported and implemented by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Homeland of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The research fields are organic agriculture and innovative agricultural technologies, including AI, digital agriculture, and smart agriculture.
The eligible institutions in the partner country are 12 institutions under the jurisdiction of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Homeland of the Federal Republic of Germany, and small and medium-sized enterprises based in Germany may also participate jointly.
