FY2026 Assessment Results for Tiger Pufferfish Stocks Published

The National Research and Development Agency, Japan Fisheries Research and Education Agency, conducts stock surveys and assessments of major fishery resources in waters surrounding Japan and publishes the results. This publication concerns the FY2026 stock assessment of tiger pufferfish.

The assessments cover 192 species, of which this announcement concerns one tiger pufferfish species and two stocks. The stocks are presented separately as the Japan Sea, East China Sea, and Seto Inland Sea stock and the Ise and Mikawa Bay stock.

Stock assessments are conducted to support the appropriate conservation and management of fishery resources.

Stock surveys and assessments are conducted through commissioned projects carried out by joint implementing organizations consisting of the National Research and Development Agency, Japan Fisheries Research and Education Agency, and prefectural research institutions and other bodies. The subject is major fishery resources in waters surrounding Japan.

The FY2026 assessment results published this time concern the tiger pufferfish Japan Sea, East China Sea, and Seto Inland Sea stock and the tiger pufferfish Ise and Mikawa Bay stock. The publication date is August 21, FY2026.
