Overview
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries compiled and released the July 2026 relative transaction prices and volume for rice from the 2025 crop. The average price across all varieties was 32,486 yen per 60 kg of brown rice, up 1,181 yen, or 4%, from the previous month. The total relative transaction volume across all varieties was 79,000 tonnes. Prices are the weighted average contract prices for first-grade rice, including freight, packaging, and consumption tax, while volume is the total contracted quantity.

Overview
The review of rice policy beginning with the 2018 crop aims to develop an environment in which producers, collection businesses, and organizations can produce rice in line with demand based on independent management decisions and sales strategies.
As part of this effort, since March 2014, more detailed information has been provided on supply, demand, and prices related to rice distribution, as well as sales progress and inventories. This release covers the July 2026 relative transaction prices and volume.

Prices for each producing region, variety, and brand are the weighted average prices for first-grade rice under relative transaction contracts, including freight, packaging, and consumption tax. Volume is the total quantity under those contracts.
