IPA and iSPIRT Sign MoU on Trusted Digital Infrastructure

Against the backdrop of the rapid spread and advancement of new digital technologies, including AI, IPA and iSPIRT established a framework to develop their existing cooperative relationship. Their collaboration covers the design, construction, and use of trusted digital infrastructure required in the AI era.

This memorandum is based on cooperation, including exchanges of views, that the two organizations have pursued to date. Its starting point was a joint statement on digital infrastructure.

The memorandum represents cooperation between IPA and iSPIRT to develop digital public infrastructure, social systems, and industrial platforms in an interconnected manner while balancing the trustworthiness and freedom of data flows.

The two organizations shared a common understanding that balancing trustworthiness and free data flows when using data across borders and organizations can contribute to improving lives and advancing industries.

Viewing social systems and industrial platforms as an integrated part of digital infrastructure demonstrated the importance of their role not only in adopting individual technologies but also in solving social challenges and creating new value.

The memorandum demonstrated the importance of trusted and free data flows and architectures incorporating data governance in digital infrastructure cooperation between Japan and India.

The memorandum identified three shared points of understanding. First, to achieve trusted and free data flows, or DFFT, through the development of digital technologies such as AI, digital public infrastructure, and data collaboration platforms. Second, to design and develop digital infrastructure, social systems, and industrial platforms as an integrated whole. Third, to emphasize their role in creating value and solving social challenges through these efforts.

The two organizations confirmed the importance of highly trusted architectures incorporating data governance. This was presented as an important consideration in designing and developing digital infrastructure, social systems, and industrial platforms as an integrated whole.

Future activities will include regular communication and exchanges of views, as well as comparative research and joint studies on each organization's initiatives. They will also develop multiple forms of cooperation under the memorandum, including exchanges of views among experts.
