The National Institute for Educational Policy Research published the report and survey results for the 2025 National Assessment of Academic Ability. National averages for correct answer rates and IRT band distributions were published on July 14, with survey result overviews and detailed reports published on July 31.
The survey targeted 6th-grade elementary students and 3rd-grade junior high students, implementing subject surveys in Japanese, Mathematics/Arithmetic, and Science, along with student questionnaire surveys and school questionnaire surveys. Survey results are compiled as an overview version (11.2MB), with separate extract versions for subject surveys and questionnaire surveys.
Reports are analyzed in detail by subject (elementary school: Japanese, Arithmetic, Science; junior high school: Japanese, Mathematics, Science) and questionnaire surveys. Survey result materials for elementary and junior high schools are also published, with analysis results based on prefectural and designated city data scheduled for publication in autumn. This survey serves as important foundational material for verification and improvement of educational policies.
