Following the UN Security Council sanctions committee’s designation of 6 individuals and 2 organizations for violating the arms embargo and other measures, Japan will add them to the targets of asset freeze and other measures.
Under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act, the measures require permission from the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry for payments and similar transactions to persons designated in notices issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, thereby preventing fund transfers with those persons.
