Japan Updated Its RESAS Regional Data Platform
Overview
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry enhanced the functions of the Regional Economy and Society Analyzing System (RESAS) and updated data in several menus to make it easier for users to use data. The Manufacturing Establishments Analysis menu now displays more information, and its name has changed. The Ministry and the Cabinet Secretariat have provided RESAS since 2015. All menus are free to use without prior ID registration.

Overview
RESAS is a platform that visualizes public and private big data on regional economies through maps and graphs. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry carried out this update to improve usability and make it easier for diverse users to use data.
Details
The Manufacturing Products Shipment Value Analysis menu in the Industrial Structure Map has been renamed Manufacturing Establishments Analysis. In addition to shipment values by manufactured product, the menu can now display the number of establishments, number of employees, and added value by industry and municipality.
The menus whose data have been updated to the latest versions are Daily Necessities Consumption Analysis and Production and Consumption Area Analysis in the Marketing Map.
In the Tourism Map, data have been updated for Tourist Destination Analysis, Accommodation Analysis, Domestic Tourism Consumption Analysis, Credit Card Spending Location Analysis, and Credit Card Spending Analysis. The display method for Accommodation Analysis has also changed following a data replacement by the data provider.
In the Industrial Structure Map, data have been updated for Industrial Structure Analysis, Manufacturing Establishments Analysis, Business Environment Analysis, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Management Analysis, and Regional Economy Comprehensive Analysis. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry plans to continue updating published data, enhancing functions, and improving usability based on user feedback.
