Call for Pilot Transport to Diversify and Strengthen International Logistics
Overview
In response to supply chain disruptions caused by worsening international conditions and climate change, applications are invited from participating businesses and for transport modes, routes, and other elements for pilot transport aimed at diversifying and strengthening international logistics. Eligible applicants include Japanese shippers and Japanese logistics operators. The project covers transport originating, terminating, or transiting through Japan, including improvements to business continuity plan routes, advanced use of existing routes, and development of new international logistics routes.

Overview
Worsening international conditions and climate change are causing disruptions to global supply chains.
In response to this situation, pilot transport will be conducted to diversify and strengthen international logistics, develop new international logistics routes, and promote the continued and integrated use of international logistics routes to build on and advance existing achievements.

Details
Eligible businesses include Japanese shippers, Japanese logistics operators, and others, and the transport must originate, terminate, or transit through Japan.
Eligible projects include improving issues identified in previously considered business continuity plan routes; enhancing the use of existing routes through regular services and the transport of multiple containers; developing and verifying international multimodal transport routes using Japan as a transit point; and developing novel routes to replace existing routes.
Pilot transport will be conducted from October 2026 through approximately January 2027. Applications will be comprehensively reviewed based on necessity, feasibility, and compliance with implementation conditions. Items to be verified include transport costs, lead times, transport quality, procedures, traceability, and customs procedures when crossing borders, compared with existing routes.
Applicants must enter the required information in the application form and submit it to the designated email address. This pilot transport is part of a demonstration survey commissioned externally by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and of the operation of a public-private consortium; the payment amount may be adjusted if the number of applications is small.
