FY Reiwa 7 Maritime Safety: Passenger and Cargo Ship Audit Results

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism released the results of operational management audits conducted in FY Reiwa 7 by maritime labor management officials assigned to regional transport bureaus and other offices nationwide, targeting ship operators and other relevant entities. The information concerns maritime transport safety for passenger ships and cargo ships and presents the status of safety assurance during the fiscal year through the audit results.

This release aims to enhance transparency regarding operators' safety-related matters, raise operators' awareness of ensuring transport safety, and thereby ensure the safety of maritime transport.

Operational management audits are conducted by maritime labor management officials on ship operators and other relevant entities under the Maritime Transportation Act and the Coastal Shipping Business Act. The audits cover ships and worksites and aim to ensure the smooth and proper operation of maritime transport. The release is based on Article 19-3 of the Maritime Transportation Act and Article 21 of the Coastal Shipping Business Act.
