Budget and Accounts: Contingency Funds for Kumamoto Victims (PDF: 77KB)

This document presents the details of the use of contingency funds based on the “Package for Supporting the Lives and Livelihoods of Victims of the Reiwa 8 Kumamoto Earthquake.”

The measures are organized into three categories: rebuilding lives, rebuilding livelihoods, and disaster recovery and related measures. In addition to rebuilding lives and businesses, the structure also covers the recovery of public facilities and other facilities.

[Rebuilding lives] A total of 36.5 billion yen will be used to improve evacuation living conditions and secure housing, 38.1 billion yen to process disaster waste, and 2 billion yen for activities by the Japan Self-Defense Forces and related measures.

[Rebuilding livelihoods] A total of 7.4 billion yen will be allocated to support affected businesses and others, 14.8 billion yen to support agriculture, forestry and fishery operators, and 15.7 billion yen to support the recovery of tourism-related industries.

[Disaster recovery and related measures] A total of 30.5 billion yen will be used to restore public civil engineering facilities and other public facilities, 1 billion yen to restore energy infrastructure, including service stations, and 1.6 billion yen to restore medical and social welfare facilities and other facilities.

Because the figures have been rounded to the nearest unit, the amounts may not add up to the total. In addition, the restoration of energy infrastructure, including service stations, will use 1 billion yen from the contingency funds of the Energy Policy Special Account.
