Minister Katayama Meets IDB President; LAC Business Forum Held

The Ministry of Finance co-hosted the Japan–Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Business Forum 2026 with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Before the forum, Minister of Finance Katayama met with IDB President Goldfajn.

At the meeting, the participants exchanged views on cooperation between Japan and the IDB Group, sustainable development in the LAC region, and promoting investment by Japanese companies in the region.

Minister Katayama communicated his intention to support Japanese companies' activities in the LAC region by strengthening cooperation with the IDB.

At the beginning of the forum, Minister Katayama presented a policy of supporting Japanese companies' activities in the LAC region.

At the signing ceremony, an agreement was signed on additional contributions to the Japan Resilience Initiative, focusing on cooperation in fields including critical minerals, food, infrastructure, disaster prevention, and the silver economy.

In addition, Minister Katayama signed an agreement concerning strengthened cooperation among the three parties: the IDB, JICA, and the Ministry of Finance, in the care and health sectors.
