Japan Trade DX Association Established with MLIT Participation

The Ports and Harbors Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism owns and operates Cyber Port, a data platform that digitizes port procedures, and promotes DX in port logistics to improve port productivity.

The goal is the digital standardization of port procedures, under which Cyber Port serves as common infrastructure for Japan's ports, private operators connect their own systems and trade DX services to it, and port users conduct all port procedures digitally.

This initiative contributes to the digital standardization of port procedures, a key measure of port logistics, which was positioned as one of the strategic fields of crisis-management investment and growth investment in the Japan Growth Strategy approved by the Cabinet on July 21.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will participate as an observer together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to support this initiative.

For interoperability among trade DX services, including Cyber Port, it is essential that stakeholders be able to exchange data smoothly. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, is working with trade DX service providers to organize data items and formats.

The association's activities will include standardizing trade data specifications, improving interoperability among services, promoting awareness and education, and making policy recommendations in a structure that allows diverse operators to participate.
