Japan, U.S., South Korea and Others Issue North Korea IT Worker Alert

On July 31, 2026, Japan’s Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Police Agency, and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry issued an alert to countries, companies, and other parties concerning North Korean IT workers. This issuance was made as a press announcement presenting the alert concerning North Korean IT workers to countries, companies, and other parties.

The announcement explained that this alert updates its content based on the alert to companies and other parties issued the previous year.

Japan updated certain content of this alert based on the alert concerning North Korean IT workers issued to companies and other parties on August 27, 2025.

The updated alert was issued jointly by like-minded countries including the United States and South Korea. The name presented in the original text is “Alert to Countries, Companies, and Other Parties Concerning North Korean IT Workers.”
