Subcommittee Held on Implementing Automated Logistics Roads

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is establishing a framework for considering the development of automated logistics roads to address the logistics crisis and achieve carbon neutrality. The concept would create dedicated logistics space within road infrastructure and transport goods through unmanned and automated systems powered by clean energy.

This initiative considers unmanned and automated transport as a response to the logistics crisis and, through the use of clean energy, concerns the future direction of logistics infrastructure and decarbonization.

The first joint Consortium, Business Model, and Operations Subcommittee meeting on implementing automated logistics roads in fiscal 2026 was held on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 13:00 to 14:00, using both in-person and web conferencing. Attendees were representatives of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and subcommittee participants.

The proceedings covered the setting of KGI, business simulations, traffic simulations, and an overview of demonstration experiments.
