Hitachi US Subsidiary JR Automation Invests $72.8 Million in New Headquarters in Michigan

JR Automation, a U.S. subsidiary of Hitachi, announced on September 3 its plan to invest a total of $72.8 million to build a new global headquarters in Zeeland, Michigan. The establishment of this new facility will consolidate the company's existing three locations, enhance efficiency, and strengthen collaboration between JR Automation and Hitachi employees. The 286,000 square foot (approximately 26,600 square meter) site will include 76,000 square feet (approximately 7,060 square meters) of office space and 210,000 square feet (approximately 19,500 square meters) dedicated to customer automation project assembly areas. The new facility will hold its groundbreaking ceremony on September 17 and is scheduled for completion in early 2027. It is expected to create 150 jobs. Yasuhiro Takeuchi, President and CEO of Hitachi America, stated that "We will establish a groundbreaking technology hub through One Hitachi that integrates digital twins, edge computing, and artificial intelligence (AI) to build a manufacturing ecosystem." South Carolina was also considered as a candidate location for the new global headquarters construction.
