Uzbekistan's President Mirziyoyev Visits China, Confirms Belt and Road Initiative Cooperation

Uzbekistan-China Strategic Partnership Expansion Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made an official visit to China from August 31 to September 3, participating in the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and holding bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping. The September 2 summit confirmed comprehensive strategic partnership and set goals to expand trade volume from $14 billion in 2024 to $20 billion. The leaders acknowledged active investment with Chinese investment projects totaling over $60 billion. Belt and Road Initiative Cooperation During the visit, multiple cooperation agreements were signed, including the "Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy" and Belt and Road Initiative cooperation program, medical services cooperation agreement, technical and economic cooperation agreement, human resource development cooperation strengthening agreement, and digital economy cooperation enhancement agreement. President Mirziyoyev met with major Chinese energy and resource companies to discuss underground natural gas storage facility construction projects, wind and solar power plant construction, and uranium deposit development with geological survey technical support.
