This reports on the 33rd meeting of the Industrial Structure Transformation Field of the Industrial Structure Council Green Innovation Subcommittee held by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Detailed discussions were conducted by experts and industry representatives on industrial structure transformation toward carbon neutrality realization. Major examination themes include promoting technological innovation toward decarbonization, expanding investment in green industries, and supporting structural transformation of existing industries.
Particularly, specific decarbonization strategies were discussed for each industrial field including introduction of hydrogen reduction technology in the steel industry, conversion to biomass raw materials in the chemical industry, alternative fuel utilization in the cement industry, and electric vehicle response in the automotive industry. Additionally, examination was conducted on challenges including small and medium enterprise decarbonization support, supply chain-wide emission reductions, and balancing international competitiveness maintenance with environmental response, confirming integrated approaches of industrial and environmental policies.
