This report covers the English version of the Cybersecurity Management Visualization Tool (Excel version, Ver2.1) released by the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA) on July 15, 2025.
The Cybersecurity Management Visualization Tool is an Excel-based tool that enables visualization of implementation status for the 10 key items defined in the "Cybersecurity Management Guidelines Ver3.0" developed by METI and IPA using a 5-level maturity model. By utilizing this tool, companies can quantitatively assess their cybersecurity measures and visually confirm them through radar charts. This enables formulation of cybersecurity policies and execution of appropriate security investments.
A key feature of Ver2.1 is the addition of industry average comparison functionality. This function is based on data from a web survey conducted in June 2023 targeting executives and managers in risk management, information systems, and corporate planning departments, allowing companies to compare their security levels with industry peers. The tool also includes group company comparison functionality, enabling overlay display of multiple companies' responses within the same Excel file for a comprehensive view of group-wide security measures.
While the tool is primarily intended for companies and organizations with 300 or more employees, it can also be used by SMEs. Responses should be completed by cybersecurity officers such as CISOs, with final confirmation and approval by executives recommended. By selecting the most appropriate options for 40 questions regarding company status, evaluation corresponding to Appendix A-2 of the Cybersecurity Management Guidelines is conducted.
The article indicates that the newly released English version enables global Japanese companies and foreign-affiliated companies to utilize this tool, contributing to standardization and strengthening of international cybersecurity measures.
