This report summarizes the results of a survey for execution management support and response capability improvement for growth-type SME research and development support projects conducted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in FY 2024.
The Growth-Type SME Research and Development Support Project is an important policy tool supporting technological innovation and competitiveness strengthening of small and medium enterprises. This survey examined challenges and improvement measures for effective execution management of the project and response capability improvement of supported companies.
The survey analyzed past support performance, verified results of supported companies, extracted challenges in execution processes, and compared with similar overseas systems. Particularly, detailed analysis was conducted from perspectives including research and development progress management, commercialization promotion of results, utilization of intellectual property rights, and strengthening industry-academia collaboration.
Survey results revealed that while support projects have achieved certain effects in activating research and development activities of small and medium enterprises, challenges exist including shortening the period to commercialization, improving compatibility with market needs, and continuous technology development support.
Additionally, for improving response capabilities of supported companies, proposals were made including enhancement of business plan formulation support, strengthening mentoring systems by experts, providing networking opportunities, and introducing efficient management systems utilizing digital technology.
The survey results are expected to be utilized as important reference materials for future improvement of SME research and development support systems and strengthening of execution frameworks.
