The Japan Institute for Labour Policy and Training (JILPT) reported on strengthening worker health management through partial revision of South Korea's Industrial Safety and Health Act as overseas labor information.
The South Korean government implemented partial revisions to the Industrial Safety and Health Act to strengthen industrial accident prevention and worker health protection. The revised law includes major content such as strengthening workplace health risk management, expanding regular health examination systems, mandating mental health management, and expanding support for small-scale workplaces.
Notable revision points include mandating workplace mental health measures, strengthening measures to prevent health damage from chemical substances, and developing health management systems considering elderly and female workers. Additionally, clarification of employer safety and health management responsibilities and strengthened penalties for violations are stipulated.
The revised law also includes promotion of digital technology-based health management system introduction, development and deployment of industrial health specialists, and expansion of technical and financial support for small and medium enterprises, aiming to construct comprehensive worker health protection systems.
