Detailed analysis has been conducted on the current state of Japan's forest resources, initiatives toward improving forestry productivity, timber supply and demand trends, and demonstration of forests' multifunctional roles. Priority issues have been organized including appropriate forest management as artificial forests reach harvesting age, securing and developing forestry workers, expanding timber utilization, and utilizing forest environment taxes.
Particularly, productivity improvement through smart forestry promotion, popularization of new wood building materials like CLT (Cross Laminated Timber), construction of forest resource circulation systems, and mountain village area revitalization are being strategically promoted, with initiatives reported toward realizing sustainable forest management and growth industries in forestry. Additionally, priority efforts are being made to maintain and improve forests' public functions including global warming prevention, biodiversity conservation, and national land conservation.
