Izu Peninsula Port Network for Disaster Support
Overview
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism received Shizuoka Prefecture’s application to form a maritime support network for disaster-affected areas on the Izu Peninsula and decided to designate wide-area and regional support wharves. The designated sites include wharves at Shimizu Port, Tagonoura Port, and Omaezaki Port. Under the system, ports providing and receiving support form a coordinated network, and advance numerical analysis is promoted to help determine quickly whether primary berths can be used after an earthquake.

Under the system, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism designates wide-area and regional support wharves to form a maritime support network connecting ports that provide and receive support.
The designations were announced on October 7, 2026.
Details
The system promotes advance numerical analysis of primary wharves so that their usability can be assessed quickly in the event of an earthquake.
The designated wide-area support wharves are Shimizu Port Okitsu No. 1 Wharf, Shimizu Port Okitsu No. 2 Wharf, Shimizu Port Hinode Wharf, Tagonoura Port Central Wharf, and Omaezaki Port West Wharf.
The designated regional support wharves are Shimizu Port Okitsu No. 1 Wharf, Shimizu Port Ejiri Wharf, Omaezaki Port West Wharf, Atami Port Wadaiso District Wharf, Ito Port Kusumi District Wharf, Shimoda Port Sotogaoka District Wharf, Matsuzaki Port Shinko District Wharf, Toi Port Oyabu District Wharf, and Numazu Port Outer Harbor District Wharf.
