The Ministry of Defense and Self-Defense Forces invited personnel from the Solomon Islands National Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau, which is responsible for explosive ordnance disposal, to Japan for a training program.

Training and visits took place at the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Logistics School (Tsuchiura), the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force 101st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (Naha), the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Yokosuka Underwater Disposal Unit (Yokosuka), and the Ministry of Defense (Ichigaya), among other locations.

The program included briefings on training courses, demonstrations of explosive ordnance disposal procedures, displays of equipment used by Maritime Self-Defense Force underwater disposal units, training at JMAS (Japan Mine Action Service), and private-sector training at Yamato Tansa Gijutsu Co., Ltd.
