Weekly Release of Foreign-Trade Container Cargo Volumes (TEU)

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism operates Cyber Port, a data platform that digitizes port logistics, administrative procedures, and related services. Using its research and statistics, the ministry will identify the number of foreign-trade cargo containers on a TEU basis at six major ports: Tokyo Port, Kawasaki Port, Yokohama Port, Nagoya Port, Osaka Port, and Kobe Port.

By compiling data for one-week periods from Monday through Sunday and publishing it by the Friday of the second week after the target period, the initiative will enable early understanding of actual port logistics conditions and contribute to the rapid formulation of data-driven port policies.

The publication will cover the weekly number of foreign-trade cargo containers handled at six major ports, measured on a TEU basis. For each port, it will show export volume, import volume, and the total of export and import volumes, together with the changes from the previous week, the same week of the previous month, and the same week of the previous year. It will also publish the export volume, import volume, total export and import volumes, and each comparison value for all six ports combined. In principle, data will be compiled from Monday through Sunday and published every week by the Friday of the second week after the target period. Publication will begin on September 18 (Friday), through the Container Cargo Flow Weekly Report, which will be added to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's website list of statistics and data concerning ports.
