Evaluation of Barrier-Free Measures with Disability Participation

Under the Barrier-Free Law, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has established the Mobility Accessibility Evaluation Meeting, composed of relevant administrative organizations, older people and people with disabilities, local governments, facility owners and managers, and other relevant parties. The meeting regularly evaluates progress in mobility accessibility.

Through the meeting, progress in mobility accessibility will be evaluated with the participation of people with disabilities and others, and work will proceed toward further enhancement of barrier-free measures.

The meeting will be held in a hybrid format at Common Meeting Room 1 on the first floor of Central Government Building No. 2, 2-1-2 Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda City, Tokyo. The agenda will include the main opinions from the previous meeting and the status of responses by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and other parties; a study group on a new framework for barrier-free measures; barrier-free initiatives by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and other parties; and other matters. The committee members are listed in the attached document. The meeting will be closed to the public, and camera filming will be permitted only at the beginning, before the proceedings start. Materials and other information are scheduled to be published later on the website. Media wishing to attend must apply through the registration form and assemble at the designated location by 1:45 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Coverage is limited to in-person attendance.
