FY2026 Medical Safety Promotion Week
Overview
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has designated November 22, 2026 (Sun) through November 28, 2026 (Sat) as Medical Safety Promotion Week to protect patient safety. It will encourage workshops, seminars, training, and other activities by administrative agencies, healthcare-related organizations, and medical institutions, while raising awareness through posters, public relations publications, social media, and other channels. An initiative record sheet for medical institutions will also be provided.

Overview
Since 2001, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has named the joint actions of relevant stakeholders the Patient Safety Action and promoted various medical safety initiatives.
As part of these efforts, the week including November 25 (Go for Good Medical Care) is designated Medical Safety Promotion Week to encourage initiatives by medical institutions, healthcare-related organizations, and others, while deepening the public's understanding and awareness.

Details
Administrative agencies, healthcare-related organizations, medical institutions, and others will conduct workshops, seminars, training, and other activities centered around the week. The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare will produce and distribute posters and conduct public relations through publications, social media, and other channels.
Each medical institution may print the downloaded initiative record sheet, fill in the initiatives of the institution as a whole or of each department, and display and use it. There are two types of sheets: one for the department name or medical institution name, and one for the department name plus job title. The poster and list of supporting organizations will be posted as soon as preparations and coordination are complete.
The initiatives of St. Luke's International Hospital for World Patient Safety Day (WPSD) are used as a reference in preparing the initiative record sheet.
