CNP Certification for Container Terminals: Four New Port Certifications

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is promoting the formation of Carbon Neutral Ports, or CNPs, by advancing port functions that support decarbonization and developing receiving environments for hydrogen, ammonia, and other resources.

The CNP Certification for Container Terminals program is one initiative promoting CNP formation and makes visible the implementation status of efforts toward decarbonizing container terminals.

Through terminal evaluations, the initiative is expected to build momentum for CNP formation across entire ports and enhance the brand strength of companies and other organizations working on CNPs, as well as that of the ports themselves.

The certification has multiple levels. In this round, the south side of Tobishima Pier Container Terminal at Nagoya Port will receive Level 4+++, the Ozai Container Terminal at Oita Port will receive Level 1+, and Sakai Port International Container Terminal and Chiba Port Container Terminal will each receive Level 1.

The certificate presentation ceremony is scheduled for September 1 for Chiba Port Container Terminal and September 4 for the south side of Tobishima Pier Container Terminal at Nagoya Port.

The certificate presentation ceremony for Sakai Port International Terminal is scheduled to be held soon, while the ceremony for Oita Port Ozai Container Terminal is scheduled to be held from October onward.
