Latest Data and Retroactive Revisions for Lending Series

The Bank of Japan posted the latest data for “Loans by Borrower” and “Personal Loans” on the Time-Series Statistics Search Site. The reference period is June 2026. In conjunction with this posting, it made retroactive revisions to some figures from June 2023 through March 2026 and identified the affected series.

For “Loans by Borrower,” loan balances and equipment funds balances cover domestic banks (three-account total), domestic banks (trust account), and credit associations. Balances and equipment funds balances by enterprise size cover domestic banks (three-account total) and domestic banks (trust account).

New equipment funds loans, new loan amounts, and loan counts (at the end of March and September) cover domestic banks (three-account total), domestic banks (banking account), and credit associations, depending on the series. For “Personal Loans,” housing funds and funds for purchasing consumer goods and services, both covering domestic banks and credit associations, are identified as affected by the revisions.
