Business Cycle Index: Releases, Revisions, Series, and Past Summaries

The source presents the content published by the Business Statistics Division of the Economic and Social Research Institute, Cabinet Office, concerning the Business Cycle Index, organized into notices, revisions, series, preliminary releases, criteria for assessing the underlying economic trend, comparisons of old and new seasonal adjustment models, past summaries, and inquiries. In addition to update information as of July 2026, it organizes preliminary release and revision materials from 2021 onward.

The revisions section provides the revision status and revision materials from the May 2026 preliminary release, while the series section provides figures for long-term series and individual leading, coincident, and lagging series, as well as the contributions of individual series to the CI. The preliminary releases section contains an overview and preliminary release materials for the May 2026 preliminary release.

The notices section covers the 22nd Business Cycle Index Research Group meeting, changes to the CI base year, the fact that figures from the January 2021 preliminary release onward reflect the post-13th revision values, and the Consumer Mind Survey trial.

The past summaries section compiles monthly summaries, preliminary releases, and revisions for January through April 2026; January through December 2025; January through December 2024; January through December 2023; January through December 2022; and January through December 2021.
