Building Construction Starts Report (June 2026)

The Building Construction Starts Report (June 2026) is a monthly report showing the status of housing and building construction starts in June 2026. Housing construction statistics present overall trends in new housing starts and changes from the previous month based on the seasonally adjusted annualized rate.

Building construction statistics explain year-on-year comparisons for private non-residential buildings, including stores, factories, warehouses, and offices, as well as overall increases and decreases including these categories.

New housing starts increased overall by 18.6% year on year because owner-occupied houses, rental houses, and houses for sale all increased. Based on the seasonally adjusted annualized rate, the increase was 3.9% from the previous month.

Compared with the same month of the previous year, private non-residential buildings increased overall because offices increased while stores, factories, and warehouses decreased.
