Minister Certifies Mitoyo’s Salt Station Hotel Plan

The Salt Station Hotel Project in Mitoyo, Kagawa Prefecture, aims to create lodging and community spaces that connect the local community with tourism. The Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism certified the plan, which uses existing local assets, as an excellent private urban redevelopment project plan.

In addition to lodging functions, the project will develop plazas and green spaces and dining and community spaces available to local residents, creating connections between the tourism hub and the local community.

The project will create an environment where tourists can stay with confidence and revitalize the market for group tours and large parties of lodging guests, which the area has previously found difficult to accommodate. The facility will serve as a base for encouraging visitors to circulate among local shops, restaurants, and other businesses.

The plazas and green spaces and the dining and community spaces will create places for local residents and opportunities for interaction with tourists, contributing to local revitalization.

The certification date was July 29, 2026. The certified business operator is eligible to receive financial support from the Organization for Promoting Private Urban Development.

The facility will include plazas and green spaces outside the building and dining and community spaces inside that local residents can also use. As a local community hotel with hub functions for town development, it will encourage circulation to surrounding areas.

The business operator will renovate and use existing local assets, combining the accommodation of tourists with community interaction. By serving as a leading example for the reuse of vacant houses and facilities, the project will contribute to resolving local issues.
