Prime Minister Takaichi's Remarks at the Government-Ruling Parties Liaison

Prime Minister Takaichi explained that, since the previous meeting in May, she had attended the G7 Summit in Evian, France, visited South Korea, the United Kingdom, Italy, and India, and held talks with Philippine President Marcos. She said that these activities had strengthened cooperation with various countries.

At the G7, she proposed free and transparent trade to stabilize the crude oil market, strengthening oil stockpiles through cooperation with the IEA, and stronger cooperation between oil-producing and consuming countries. Regarding critical minerals, she proposed the Joint Stockpiling Cooperation Initiative and said it had received support from the participating countries.

The Basic Policy, Japan Growth Strategy, and Regional Future Strategy, which will be formulated for the first time under the Takaichi Cabinet, had draft versions presented at various councils at the end of last month and are currently being discussed by the Liberal Democratic Party and the Japan Innovation Party. The Prime Minister requested that the Cabinet consider the substance of the policies while taking opinions into account and further advance ruling-party deliberations toward Cabinet approval.

With little time remaining in the parliamentary session, the Prime Minister requested cooperation to ensure that all government-submitted bills pass within the session. She also called on the ruling parties to unite in seeking passage during the session of the bill on the secondary capital, one of the remaining members' bills.

The Prime Minister said she would engage in discussions on the best policies for the nation and its people in the party leaders' debate, deliberations on important wide-ranging bills, and intensive deliberations by the Budget Committee.
