Overview of 2024 Vital Statistics (Final Figures)

The statistical tables cover births, deaths, marriages, divorces, and tabulations by prefecture, from Table 1, Overall Vital Statistics, through Table 9, Numbers of Deaths and Mortality Rates by Sex, by Simple Classification of Causes of Death (per 100,000 population). The separate tables cover vital statistics for foreign nationals and Japanese nationals, as well as vital events that occurred in years before the previous year, while Population shows the population used to calculate various rates.

The reference materials include graphs of annual trends in births, deaths, marriages, and divorces; reference tables ranking prefectures; an explanation of the total fertility rate; numbers of deaths from mesothelioma; numbers of deaths from heatstroke; and a cross-reference table for the major statistical tables in the Vital Statistics Annual Report (Final Figures).
