This report outlines a general account project conducted by the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research from FY2021-2024. In cooperation with Iwate Prefecture, the project utilizes the "Iwate Prefecture Medical Big Data Utilization System" that integrates occupational and regional insurance data for comprehensive health, medical, and long-term care analysis. Analysis of specific health checkup participation rates reveals that out-of-pocket costs significantly impact participation, with rates approximately 15% higher when there are no costs. While checkup participants show significantly lower cumulative medical expenses compared to non-participants, this may reflect selection effects where healthier individuals are more likely to participate.
