A comprehensive insurance product called "Bima Vistaar" covering life, health, and property for rural populations is scheduled to launch in India by December 2025. This product is led by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and aims to improve insurance access for rural residents with 500,000 rupees coverage per person by all 26 life insurance companies. The product is part of the "Bima Trinity" national insurance strategy consisting of three pillars: Bima Sugam (integrated digital platform), Bima Vistaar (comprehensive insurance product), and Bima Vahak (community-based sales network with women-centered advisors). This strategy addresses challenges of low insurance penetration and lack of awareness in rural areas, aiming to achieve universal insurance coverage by 2047.
