Chilean state copper company CODELCO and Anglo American Sur reached an agreement on September 16 for integrated operations of the adjacent Andina and Los Bronces copper mines. Subject to necessary permits, the integrated operation could begin by 2030, creating one of the world five largest copper mining operations. The partnership aims to optimize resource extraction, reduce operational costs, and extend mine life through shared infrastructure and coordinated development plans.
