A report on special survey results regarding corporate awareness and behavior in the Tohoku region.
This survey was conducted as a special survey within the Tohoku Regional Capital Investment Plan Survey, conducting detailed awareness surveys on corporate management strategies, investment decisions, and views on regional economy. Survey targets included companies headquartered in the Tohoku region and companies investing in the Tohoku region, collecting responses from a broad sample considering company size and industry type.
Survey items included investment purposes and priorities, future outlook for regional economy, human resource acquisition challenges, responses to technological innovation, and environmental/decarbonization efforts, providing comprehensive analysis of specific management challenges and future strategies faced by Tohoku region companies. Particular focus was placed on changes in corporate awareness over 10 years since the earthquake disaster recovery and transitions to new growth strategies.
Response company attribute analysis clearly shows industry-specific characteristics between manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors, and awareness differences by company size, highlighting features of the Tohoku region's industrial structure and region-specific challenges. Specific data was also collected on digital transformation (DX) promotion status, supply chain reviews, and responses to work style reform.
Regarding regional economic contribution awareness, corporate efforts and future policies were surveyed on local employment maintenance and expansion, strengthening collaboration with local suppliers, and participation in regional communities, confirming heightened recognition of corporate social responsibility.
The article evaluates this as a valuable survey reflecting the genuine voices of Tohoku region business leaders, providing important insights for regional economic policy formulation and corporate support measure consideration.
