Interim Summary of the Study Group on Regional Weather Disaster Prevention Operations

This is a press release regarding the interim summary of the "Study Group on Regional Weather Disaster Prevention Operations" published by the Japan Meteorological Agency on August 8, 2025 (Reiwa 7). The study group consists of external experts and examines approaches to cooperation with various regional entities and directions for enhancement and improvement of initiatives supporting regional disaster prevention capacity improvement implemented by local meteorological offices. The interim summary indicated that in addition to enhancing and improving conventional support for local governments, it is necessary to consider support for various entities supporting residents' safe and secure daily life and activities, including lifelines and transportation. The Japan Meteorological Agency plans to continue holding study group meetings and proceed with discussions toward the final summary.
