"List of Medical Institutions Accepting Foreign Patients" Updated

The Japan Tourism Agency of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) announced on August 28, 2025, the update of the "List of Medical Institutions Accepting Foreign Patients" compiled in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. This list is created as part of efforts to establish an environment where both visiting foreign tourists and foreign residents can receive medical care with confidence, consolidating information on medical institutions selected by each prefecture. This update includes changes to medical institution information in Aomori, Ibaraki, Niigata, and Osaka prefectures. The list contains detailed information such as location, available languages, and medical departments of medical institutions, formatted for use by foreign patients, medical interpreters, and administrative agencies. Based on the "Comprehensive Measures to Ensure Appropriate Medical Care for Visiting Foreign Nationals" and the "Comprehensive Response Measures for Foreign Human Resources Acceptance and Coexistence," the government is promoting the development of a system where foreign patients can receive medical care with confidence in all residential areas. This list is also published in multiple languages on the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) website, serving as important infrastructure for promoting tourism nation policies and realizing a society of coexistence with foreign residents.
