The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare published compilation results of spring wage increase request and settlement status for private major companies in FY2025.
The survey targets 390 companies with capital of 10 billion yen or more and 1,000 or more employees that have labor unions, compiling companies for which settlement amounts could be determined. The average settlement amount was 18,629 yen, an increase of 1,214 yen compared to the previous year (17,415 yen). The wage increase rate against the current base (average wage before negotiations) was 5.52%, up 0.19 percentage points compared to the previous year (5.33%).
FY2025 characteristics show that both wage increase amounts and rates exceeded last year's results, confirming continued wage increase trends. Compilation results are provided as detailed data from Tables 1 through 4, including analysis data on trends in requests and settlements, number of companies by request submission timing, and number of companies by settlement timing. This data is handled by the Office of Labor Relations under the Director-General for Policy Planning and Coordination and is utilized for understanding labor market trends and policy formulation.
The article clarifies that FY2025 spring wage increases proceeded at levels exceeding the previous year, with specific figures of 18,629 yen in wage increase amount and 5.52% wage increase rate showing sustained wage increase flows in Japan's major companies.
