This article introduces the "Medical Device and Healthcare Product Commercialization Case Studies 2025 in the Chubu Region" published by the Chubu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, showcasing innovative product development and commercialization efforts by regional companies.
This case study collection features 11 successful examples from Chubu region companies, introducing technological innovations across diverse medical and healthcare fields. In the monitoring system field, Shikino Hitech Co., Ltd. developed an innovative monitoring system integrating millimeter-wave radar and cameras, achieving high-precision abnormality detection while considering privacy. Additionally, Il Co., Ltd. proposed elderly monitoring services using insole-type GPS, enabling safety assurance naturally integrated into daily life.
In the medical device field, IQ Lab Co., Ltd. developed diaper sensors that detect both urination and defecation, significantly contributing to reducing burdens in care settings. Asahi Sangyo Co., Ltd. commercialized handheld urine collectors that eliminate anxiety about failures when using conventional urinals. In medical application fields, MEDICOLAB Co., Ltd. developed automatic medicine handbook identification apps, achieving improved efficiency and safety in medication management.
Manufacturing industry entry into medical fields is also abundant, with Timetech Co., Ltd. working on safety improvements for walker oxygen cylinder carts, and Spica Co., Ltd. developing pain relief products for pregnant women, showing active new business development utilizing existing technologies. These cases, together with 15 cases from the 2023 version and 17 cases from the 2021 version, demonstrate the continuous development of medical and healthcare industries in the Chubu region.
The article concludes that by connecting the diverse technological foundations possessed by Chubu region companies with medical field needs, innovative product and service commercialization is steadily progressing, and the medical and healthcare field is being established as a new growth axis for regional industry.
