The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications announced on August 22, 2025, that the secondary tabulation results (cross-industry survey) of the 2024 Economic Structure Statistics, which had been postponed, will be published on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 14:00. The Economic Structure Statistics is a fundamental statistical survey jointly administered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry since 2019, aimed at clarifying the status of economic activities of enterprises and other entities in Japan, improving the accuracy of national economic accounting, and obtaining basic data for policies related to enterprises.
This survey is an important statistical investigation covering enterprise, household, and economic sector business activities, managed under government statistics code 00200555. The Statistics Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has apologized once again for the inconvenience caused to users by this publication postponement.
As an important additional point, numerical corrections have occurred in the 2022 and 2023 Economic Structure Statistics (Manufacturing Establishment Survey), resulting in corrections to the tertiary and quaternary tabulations of the 2022 and 2023 Economic Structure Statistics (Cross-Industry Survey). The corrected results and error information will also be published simultaneously.
The Economic Structure Statistics provides extremely important fundamental data for Japan's economic policy formulation and national economic accounting preparation, and its reliability and accuracy are indispensable for economic analysis and policy decision-making. The current numerical corrections represent a comprehensive review extending back to manufacturing establishment surveys from the past two years, constituting an important response in statistical quality management.
